Daily Arrival and Departure Policy
Policy Statement
The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of children attending the Twinkling Stars ECC while providing clear guidelines for parents and guardians regarding the daily arrival and departure procedures.
Daily Arrival Protocols
- The Centre Manager and key person are required to review the “Child Information Form” completed by parents to gain an accurate understanding of each child before their first day at the Centre.
- Each child is assigned a labeled tray with his/her name in the classroom.
- The key person is responsible for maintaining accurate records for all children in her care. This involves recording the time of arrival and departure on the class attendance.
- Additionally, any arrivals or departures from the premises are documented in the register book placed at the entrance of the premises.
- The person bringing or collecting the child is responsible for completing the centre’s register book. The class register is consistently kept in the classroom, adjacent to the door, and regular head counts are conducted throughout the day.
- The Centre’s manager is obligated to retain daily registers maintained all the time.
Arrival Procedures
- Drop-off Time: Parents and guardians are required to adhere to the drop-off times established by the centre. Any exceptions must be communicated in advance and approved by centre management.
- Sign-In Procedure: Upon arrival, parents or authorized guardians must sign in their child at the designated sign-in area. This ensures accurate attendance records and enables the centre staff to be aware of the children’s presence.
- Handover of Personal Belongings: Parents are responsible for handing over any personal belongings, such as diapers, spare clothes, and comfort items, to the centre staff at the time of drop-off.
Departure Procedures
- Pick-up Time: Parents and authorized guardians are expected to collect their children at the designated pick-up time. Late pick-ups may incur additional charges.
- Sign-Out Procedure: A designated sign-out area will be established for parents and authorized guardians to sign out their children when leaving the centre premises. This procedure ensures accurate attendance records and provides a clear record of who is responsible for the child at any given time.
- Authorized Pick-up Persons: Only individuals listed on the child’s authorized pick-up form will be allowed to collect the child from the centre. Any changes to the pick-up list must be communicated to the centre in advance and supported by appropriate documentation. This includes providing advance notice if someone other than the authorized pick-up persons will be collecting the child.
Security Measures
- Access Control: The Centre will implement appropriate access control measures to ensure that only authorized individuals can enter the premises.
- Identification Verification: Centre staff will verify the identity of individuals picking up children by requesting identification when necessary.
- Emergency Procedures: The centre will have established emergency procedures in place to address unexpected situations, such as a parent’s inability to pick up a child due to unforeseen circumstances. The person nominated to collect a child must be one of those named on the Collection Consent Form or in writing/verbally from the parent.
